De Biasi handed Toro backing
26 Oct 2008 - 15:07:05
Torino president Urbano Cairo has pledged his support for under-pressure coach Gianni De Biasi following a 1-0 derby defeat by Juventus.
De Biasi's side have failed to win any of their last seven games and have lost on their last four outings, but Toro chief Cairo says that now is not the time to make a change.
He told Sky Italia: "De Biasi is absolutely staying in position. When you lose four on the trot it is not a positive time, but I did not see a Toro side inferior to Juve.
"At the start there were some great saves from Alex Calderoni, but in the second half we did more.
"They scored with their only chance and we did not, that was the difference.
"I am with De Biasi and so is the team. It is just an issue of getting out of this negative period, scoring a few more goals and not conceding them the way we did against Juve."
De Biasi himself remains confident that a change in fortunes is just around the corner.
He added: "A coach lives on results and those are not coming at the moment, but the squad is putting in the performances. We are just not reaping what we sow.
"I am convinced I have a good squad, it's just that we are not lucky at the moment."
In the day's other game, Catania earned a point from a 1-1 draw away to Siena.
