Introducing the Team GB Olympic squad

With the Olympics almost upon us, it is time to check out the players selected by Stuart Pearce to represent Great Britain.

Jack Butland - Age: 19, Club: Birmingham City, Position: Goalkeeper

The highly rated goalkeeper was a member of England's Euro 2012 squad but has yet to make an appearance for Birmingham City. He did feature 24 times last season during a loan spell at League Two club Cheltenham Town.

Jason Steele - Age: 21, Club: Middlesbrough, Position: Goalkeeper

Came through the ranks at Middlesbrough and has earned himself the No 1 shirt as well as winning the club's Young Player of the Year award last season. Has one cap for the England under-21 side but was sent off after just 13 minutes.

Micah Richards - Age: 24, Club: Manchester City, Position: Right-back

Selected as one of three over-age players after being controversially overlooked for England's Euro 2012 squad. Has 13 caps for England, scoring on one occasion. Richards made his Manchester City debut in 2005 and played in 29 league games for the Premier League winners last season.

Steven Caulker - Age: 20, Club: Tottenham, Position: Centre-back

Caulker impressed during a season on-loan at Swansea last season and he is now expected to compete for a first-team spot at Tottenham next season. He has 4 caps for the England under-21 team with one goal.

Craig Dawson - Age: 22, Club: West Brom, Position: Centre-back

Made his Premier League debut in September after moving to West Brom from Rochdale in 2010. Despite being a centre-back he has scored 4 times in 7 games for the England under-21 team.

James Tomkins - Age: 23, Club: West Ham, Position: Centre-back

Progressed through the academy at West Ham and played a vital part in helping his team return to the Premier League last season, while being named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year. Recently committed his future to the Hammers signing a deal until 2016.

Neil Taylor - Age: 23, Club: Swansea, Position: Left-back

Moved to Swansea from Wrexham in 2010 and played a role in lifting the Swans into the Premier League. Has been a regular at left-back for Wales in recent years and has nine caps for the country.

Ryan Bertrand - Age: 22, Club: Chelsea, Position: Left-back

Signed for Chelsea from Gillingham in 2005 before making his league debut for The Blues in 2011. Made his European debut in Chelsea's successful Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich playing left-midfield. He has 16 caps for the England under-21 team.

Aaron Ramsey - Age: 21, Club: Arsenal, Position: Centre midfield

Made his debut for Wales aged just 17 and become the youngest ever captain of his nation in 2011. Has over 100 appearances for Arsenal since joining them for Cardiff City for £5million in 2008.

Tom Cleverley - Age: 22, Club: Manchester United, Position: Centre midfield

Broke into the Manchester United starting XI at the start of the 2011/12 season after a successful loan spell at Wigan Athletic. Has been called up to the senior England squad on two occasions but has yet to feature due to injuries.

Jack Cork - Age: 23, Club: Southampton, Position: Centre midfield

Cork left Chelsea to join Southampton in 2011 after failing to make a single appearance at Stamford Bridge. The holding midfielder had an excellent season with Southampton as The Saints were promoted to the Premier League.

Joe Allen - Age: 22, Club: Swansea, Position: Centre midfield

Welsh international and Swansea youth product who was given his first-team debut aged just 16. Was credited as being one of the stand-out midfielders in his debut Premier League season last year and has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Ryan Giggs - Age: 38, Club: Manchester United, Position: Centre midfield

A man who needs no introduction. The Welsh and Manchester United legend is the Team GB captain and has bags of experience. The 38 year-old has reinvented himself from a left-winger into a central playmaker. He retired from international duty with Wales in 2007 and now has one last chance at international glory.

Danny Rose - Age: 21, Club: Tottenham, Position: Winger

With 21 England under-21 caps, Rose is among the more experienced youngsters in the squad at International level. Scored a memorable winner for Spurs against Arsenal but has so far only made 13 league appearances at Tottenham.

Scott Sinclair - Age: 23, Club: Swansea, Position: Winger

After making his debut at Bristol Rovers aged just 15 years old, he earned rave reviews and moved to Chelsea in 2005. The winger failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge and moved to Swansea where he played a vital role in their rise into the top flight.

Marvin Sordell - Age: 21, Club: Bolton Wanderers, Position: Striker

The young striker scored 27 goals in a four-year spell with Watford before he moved to Bolton in January for £3million. He has only made three appearances so far for the club but is expected to be given a more prominent role in the team following their relegation last season.

Daniel Sturridge - Age: 22, Club: Chelsea, Position: Striker

Placed on standby for England's Euro 2012 squad, Sturridge missed out on the team narrowly but has played twice at senior level for his country. He left Manchester City for Chelsea for £3.5million and has played as both a winger and centre forward at Stamford Bridge.

Craig Bellamy - Age: 32, Club: Liverpool, Position: Striker

Fifth-highest goalscorer in Wales' history, at 33 Bellamy is the second most senior member of Pearce's squad. The Liverpool forward has been a proven goalscorer at Premier League level for a number of years with a list of former clubs including Newcastle United, Manchester City and West Ham United.
