One of the most entertaining matches of the season resulted in a win for the home side who thus avenged their 3-0 defeat back in August. Hemel opened the scoring after 16 minutes through Anthony Thomas but Taunton were level after 37 minutes with a powerful shot by captain Antony Lynch. Pete Sheppard put Taunton ahead just before the interval with a delicate lob.
Hemel equalised six minutes into the second half when captain Grant Carney neeted from close range and the home side regained the lead after 73 minutes with a solo effort by Jefferson Louis. Lynch had an opportunity to level the scores from the penalty spot in injury time but his shot hit the post and to add insult to injury Hemel broke away and Thomas netted his second of the game.
Simon Ingram acquitted himself well on his return to the club and could have scored after 10 minutes but his free kick went just over the bar. Another new signing Ross Plain came on for the last 15 minutes and put over a perfect cross just a few minutes later but Lynchs header was saved by home keeper Steve Smith.
