Mansfield Town defender Alex John-Baptiste has returned to Field Mill at the end of his month's loan spell with Tamworth.

The 17-year-old made four appearances for the Lambs, helping the club to four points out of six in their festive double-header against Burton Albion.

His debut came in the excellent 1-0 victory at high-flying Hereford United, with his only defeat a 5-1 thrashing by Nationwide Conference leaders Chester City.

Stags boss Keith Curle told the club's official website: "The loan spell has served its purpose, Alex has been training with us as normal, but playing first-team football for Tamworth, where he has impressed all who have watched him.

"He has returned looking sharp, but most importantly confident and match-fit. This is why I would like to send all the younger players who are fighting for places in the first team out on loan."
