Kuhn proud despite Swiss exit

Switzerland coach Kobi Kuhn put on a brave face after seeing the co-hosts eliminated from Euro 2008 following a 2-1 defeat by Turkey in Basel.

The Swiss have lost both of their Group A games and Kuhn's side have become the first side to see their chances of glory disappear.

However, the veteran coach said after their loss to Turkey: "We are hugely disappointed, but I cannot criticise anyone, neither the players nor anyone else.

"We have lost two matches in an unfortunate way and it's painful. I thought about trying to keep the 1-1 result and replace players tactically, but we didn't have much time to make up our own minds.

"The fact is that we wanted to win, because even with a point the probability of going through to the next round would have been highly unlikely as we face Portugal in our last group game.

"But I don't regret any decisions I have made. I don't think I can criticise myself for anything. I just wanted to win the match."

"I think my team have given everything in this tournament and I am proud of them."
