Wilson pleased to keep Cox

Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson believes his successful battle to keep top scorer Simon Cox at the County Ground will help the Robins in their attempt to remain in League One this season.

The former Reading striker, who has already scored 15 league goals this season, had been linked with a transfer in January, but Wilson is delighted nothing materialised.

He told the Evening Advertiser: "It's vital that Simon Cox stayed - he's our top goalscorer so of course you want him to be here.

"And unless someone came in with a really audacious bid then he was always going to be here.

"I don't think there's any reason that Coxy wants to go anyway, and he's committed himself to us so that's fantastic.

"From a manager's point of view you don't want him to go because he's the top scorer."
