Sturrock warns Nicholas

Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock has told Andy Nicholas that he will have to work hard to establish himself in the first team this season, after the defender penned a new one-year deal with the Robins.

The 23-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for the club, but Sturrock thinks the former Liverpool starlet will find it harder to keep his place this term.

"Andy Nicholas has put pen to paper on a new deal so that's another one we have all done and dusted," Sturrock told Town's official website.

"He was desperate to stay at Swindon and he's appreciative that he's going to have to fight for his place now.

"Jamie Vincent and Sofiene Zaaboub are also comfortable at the left-back slot and I have good competition for places in that department, which is what we want across the board."
