Smith extends Robins contract

Swindon Town goalkeeper Phil Smith has signed a new two-year contract extension to keep him at the County Ground until the summer of 2012.

The 30-year-old joined the Robins in the summer of 2006 and has made 85 appearances in all competitions.

He told the club's official website: "I had to think about it for while because obviously I haven't played a lot, but I won't have a better chance of playing in the Championship than I will here.

"The club has progressed massively in the last couple of years and I want to be a part of it.

"Swindon have shown their faith in me and they've made me feel wanted, which was a big thing and made it easy for me in the end."
