Swindon Town's promotion hopes have been dented after scans revealed key midfielder Paul Evans requires surgery on an ankle injury.
The 32-year-old has been sidelined since before Christmas with an ankle problem and will undergo surgery later in the week.
"It is a massive blow to us because he will now not resume training for around five to six weeks," Robins boss Paul Sturrock told the club's official website.
"He is a big player for us and hopefully we will see him back well before the end of the campaign."
