Robins chairman blasts player desire
Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton has hit out at the desire of some of the club`s players as Town struggle to drag themselves out of League One`s relegation zone.Fitton watched the Robins come back to claim a point against 10-man Hartlepool on Saturday in a home game they really needed to win to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the drop.Having failed to win any of their last 18 matches Swindon now lie six points adrift of safety with six matches remaining, while all of their relegation rivals also boast games in hand.Speaking about Saturday`s performance, Fitton told BBC Wiltshire: "When you're in the situation we're in you need people who are willing to put their necks on the line and throw themselves in front of the bullet that is being shot at them."I saw that from a handful of players. I take my hat off to them, but I didn't see it from a lot of other players."The Robins chief also criticised the signings made by former boss Danny Wilson, who resigned in March. Fitton added: "Despite the fact we recruited the players the manager wanted and built a squad we thought was stronger than last year. The truth is too many aren't good enough. Too many don't want it enough."
