Robins: Bosnich deal unlikely

Swindon Town do not expect to follow up their initial interest in signing veteran goalkeeper Mark Bosnich.

Bosnich, 37, held preliminary talks with the League One club about resurrecting his career in England, but chairman Andrew Fitton claims a deal to sign the Australian keeper is unlikely to be agreed.

The former Manchester United, Aston Villa and Chelsea keeper recently completed a short spell in the Australian A-League with Central Coast Mariners, but has not played in England since a drugs ban in 2002.

"There were some discussion with Mark Bosnich but I'm not expecting it to go anywhere," said Fitton.

"He is a guy who was once a very high quality goalkeeper, but who has since fallen on hard times and you must never rule that out.

"But he has got to want to come here and I am not sure that is what he wants.

"It is most likely he will end up playing in Malaysia or Japan or somewhere like that."

Meanwhile, Doncaster Rovers defender Gordon Greer is considering joining the Robins on a permanent basis in the summer following a successful loan spell at the County Ground this season.
