Swindon Town skipper Christian Roberts has won the nod to be named League Two's Player of the Month for August.

Roberts has helped the Robins make a flying start to the campaign, winning their first six league games of the new season.

Chairman of the awards panel, Chris Kamara, commented: "Making Christian Roberts club captain appears to have been a masterstroke by boss Dennis Wise.

"Since he has been given the armband, Christian's game has improved no end and he really seems to be thriving on the extra responsibility.

"He is sure to have a big part to play in Swindon's promotion push this season."
