Peacock wary of Sturrock axe

Swindon striker Lee Peacock has warned his team-mates that boss Paul Sturrock will not waste any time wielding the axe at the County Ground.

The Robins appointed the former Sheffield Wednesday boss as a replacement for Dennis Wise and Peacock, who played under him at Hillsborough, fears that he could make sweeping changes as early as the January transfer window.

He told the Swindon Advertiser: "He's had a word with everyone and I think it's a case of as it was at Sheffield. Everyone's on a month's trial and what he decides to do after that, you get on with it.

"That's football. Some managers fancy you, some don't. Whatever happens, happens.

"He knows exactly what he wants from his players. He doesn't hang about. If things aren't right, he'll change things.

"He wants his teams putting others on the back foot straight away, playing high-tempo football. He's not one for sitting on the sidelines and being quiet. He lets you know if you're not doing the right job."
