Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has confirmed that he is close to bringing a new player to the County Ground.
The Robins have already clinched the signings of Michael Timlin and Kevin Amankwaah since the end of last season, but Malpas won't be rushed in to making any panic buys.
He told the club's official website: "We've made a bid for one player and are waiting to hear from the club, which should be within the next few days.
"Hopefully we can get this deal done and then we can talk with the player once we have that permission.
"I'm also looking at other options and have one or two irons in the fire and there are things going on. One player has an offer from another club, but we're waiting to see because we'd like him to come and join us for pre-season.
"I know the fans are keen for us to add to the squad. The one thing I will say is that we will make sure we get the right players, not just go and fill a shirt for the sake of it."
