    Malpas makes double move

    18 Jan 2008 - 15:56:42

Swindon Town have signed Watford's Anthony McNamee for an undisclosed fee and his team-mate Moses Ashikodi on a loan deal until the end of the season.

McNamee has been at Watford since 2002 and has made 93 appearances for the Hornets. The winger had his best season at Vicarage Road in 2005-06 when he helped Aidy Boothroyd's men gain promotion to the Premiership.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at County Road until the end of the 2009-10 season.

Twenty-year-old striker Ashikodi has represented England at youth levels, while he made his debut for his first club Millwall at the tender age of 15.

The Nigerian-born forward also had short spells at West Ham United and Rangers where he failed to break regularly into either first-team, before moving on to Watford.

Ashikodi scored on his debut for the Hornets against Stockport County in the FA Cup before he was loaned out to Bradford City last season. Unluckily Ashikodi broke his leg while on duty for the Bantams and had to return to Vicarage Road.

The pair are Maurice Malpas' first signings since taking charge at the County Ground.
