Malpas dismisses Cox fears

Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas is confident that the club will not lose the services of in-form striker Simon Cox in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old has already scored 14 goals this season, including hat-tricks against both Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe United, sparking talk of interest from higher level clubs.

However, Malpas told the club's official website: "If he keeps on scoring goals then it is good for the club. I would rather him be banging in the goals that not.

"Undoubtedly there will be interest in him, but he won't be leaving here easily. Why would we want to break the team up in the transfer window?

"The chairman assures me that we don't have to go selling players at the moment, so I can't see him going anywhere in January."
