Ball hails Campbell
Swindon striker David Ball believes trialist John Campbell has got what it takes to cut it in League One after his impressive hat-trick for the club`s reserves on Tuesday.Ball, on loan from Manchester City, played in attack alongside Campbell in the stunning 5-5 draw against Torquay and is familiar with his qualities having been in the trainee ranks together at Eastlands.Campbell is now at non-league Newcastle Benfield, who play in the ninth tier of English football, but Ball has backed him to earn a contract at the County Ground, where Charlie Austin has flourished since his switch from Poole Town little over a year ago.Manager Danny Wilson was watching Campbell`s contribution for the second string, and Ball told the Swindon Advertiser: "He's a decent player and a raw talent. He has shown what he is capable of, and it was good to play up front with him. Maybe things didn't go right for John at City and he had off-the-field stuff, but he's obviously found his head now and said this is the right time for him."You don't always know what you are going to get from him, but John is a very good player and there is no reason why he can't come here and get a contract."I think he's capable of it (playing in League One). John has a lot of pace and is a good finisher. He probably needs a few games in there to find his feet, but when he does there is no reason why he can't adapt to this league."
