Wilson to monitor injured Cuthbert

Swindon manager Danny Wilson will check on defender Scott Cuthbert on Wednesday after he went off with a head injury in the 2-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Torquay.

David Ball, on loan from Manchester City, scored his first goal for the Robins to set them on their way at the County Ground before Vincent Pericard added a second.

However, Town lost influential Scottish defender Cuthbert after 27 minutes, and Wilson explained: "He clashed heads and felt dizzy afterwards so we had to take him off. The extra rest before the Bristol Rovers game on Monday will do him good and we will just keep him monitored.

"We had to juggle it around a bit and I thought Kevin Amankwaah did really well when we switched him to centre-back.

"Nathan Thompson was a revelation when he came on, he had fantastic energy, that's what we ask our full-backs to do. He was very solid in defence and extremely good going forward which was great to see.

"David Ball did very, very well and took his goal very well. Matt Ritchie was a real handful, he's got terrific feet, he created chances for others and had a couple of chances himself too. It was a good game, and you have to tip your hat to Torquay because they came to play."
