Storey has to settle for sub spot

Paolo Di Canio is not planning to hand youngster Miles Storey a start against Macclesfield despite his unforgettable week.

The 18-year-old striker scored his first goal for the club at Stevenage before climbing off the bench to grab a memorable double against Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup which had the Robins on course for extra time before Christian Benteke's last-gasp winner.

"I have to use him in a way that I think I can use him," the Italian said to BBC Wiltshire. "Next game maybe he'll be on the bench or play half an hour or 20 minutes.

"Otherwise we'll lose the sense of reality. We'll only damage him if we think now he can play League One."

Fellow forward Andy Williams made his comeback from injury as a substitute against Villa having missed four games and is pushing for a place back in Di Canio's starting XI.

On-loan playmaker John Bostock has returned to Tottenham for treatment after picking up a groin injury at Stevenage. Alan Navarro and Fede Bessone remain on the sidelines.

Macclesfield boss Steve King has injury concerns over several of his defenders.

Centre-back Kieran Charnock played an hour in the reserves in midweek after a recent Achilles injury but this game could come too soon for him, while full-backs Ryan Jackson and Craig Braham-Barratt have both been struggling with groin injuries and will face late checks.

Defender Nat Brown (knock) will definitely not feature against the Robins.

Strikers Waide Fairhurst and Chris Holroyd will be pushing for starts after having to be content with a place on the bench for the game against Grimsby last time out.

They will compete with Amari Morgan-Smith for the chance to partner Matt Barnes-Homer in the Silkmen's attack.
