Ranger set to miss out

Swindon look set to leave Nile Ranger out of their matchday squad to face Coventry.

The former Newcastle striker has not yet featured during December and boss Mark Cooper says that will continue unless he shows "a bit more respect" to his Robins team-mates.

After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sheffield United last weekend Cooper could shuffle his pack with the likes of Ryan Harley, Nathan Byrne and Dany N'Guessan pushing for recalls.

But long-term injury absentees, Alex Smith, Troy Archibald-Henville and Tijane Reis, are only closing in on a return to full training and will not be involved.

Chris Dagnall and Chris Maguire return to contention for Coventry.

The on-loan forwards both missed Tuesday's 2-1 FA Cup second-round replay victory over Hartlepool having been denied permission to feature in the competition by respective parent clubs Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

Leon Clarke bagged both goals against Pools and the fit-again Sky Blues striker will be keen to continue his scoring form when he makes his return to former employers Swindon.

With no new injury or suspension concerns expected, defender Jordan Willis is likely to remain the only player on the sidelines as he battles back from his knee injury.
