Swindon quiet on Austin transfer request rumour

Swindon are refusing to comment on speculation star striker Charlie Austin has handed in a formal transfer request.

Reports emerging on Tuesday morning suggest the 21-year-old has submitted his written desire to leave the County Ground, with no shortage of takers interested in acquiring his services.

Austin's supposed actions would come as no real surprise after he recently revealed his disappointment that Hull`s undisclosed bid was rejected in December, and went on to admit he would like to be given the chance to weigh up any opportunities that arise this month. But he would certainly have firmed up his intention to leave by handing a written transfer request on the desk of chairman Andrew Fitton.

Should the unconfirmed reports be true then it would signal a mad scramble between Championship and possibly some Premier League clubs for the services of a young striker who has scored 37 goals in 63 appearances since signing from non-league Poole Town in October 2009.

In further unwanted transfer news for Town, highly-regarded 20-year-old defender Sean Morrison looks set to complete a switch to Reading in the coming days.
