Robins rock Magpies

On-loan Chelsea teenager John Swift orchestrated Swindon's 3-0 win over Notts County, who had midfielder Liam Noble sent off late on.

All the goals came in the second half with Swift getting the ball rolling after 58 minutes, scoring with 25-yard strike. Six minutes later the 19-year-old forced the penalty which led to Andy Williams doubling the lead from the penalty spot.

A late third goal by Harry Toffolo in the 89th minute clinched a much-needed victory for the League One promotion contenders.

Swindon's automatic promotion prospects had been faltering after only one win in six matches, but they were comfortable winners over the Magpies once Swift, eye catching throughout, had drilled a shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net early in the second half.

Swift almost repeated the dose soon afterwards, forcing Notts goalkeeper Roy Carroll to sprawl to his left to save. But the evergreen former Manchester United keeper was then penalised for a foul on Williams, who moved in on the rebound and then scored the resulting spot-kick.

Noble, booked twice for dissent inside 60 seconds, was given his marching orders with five minutes remaining before Toffolo wrapped up the points, scoring a simple tap-in after Carroll had saved from Massimo Luongo.
