Swindon 2-0 Aldershot: Match Report

Robins streak continues

Swindon extended their unbeaten run to 11 games after a scrappy 2-0 victory over Aldershot at the County Ground.

Paolo Di Canio's men grabbed the advantage in the 52nd minute when on-loan Birmingham striker Jake Jervis bundled home a Paul Caddis cross from six yards.

The opener came as a surprise after a dour first half saw only one moment of note when, in injury time, Alan McCormack prevented what would have been a certain Aldershot goal with a wonderful last-ditch tackle on Danny Hylton.

Dean Holdsworth's men could have been level in the 70th minute through a powerful Michael Rankine header, only for referee James Adcock to disallow the effort for a foul on Robins defender Aden Flint.

Aside from this, the Shots rarely threatened Wes Foderingham's goal, with the Swindon keeper being called into action on few occasions.

Thirty seconds after Rankine's disallowed goal the three points were secured when Darren Jones turned Liam Ridehalgh's cross into his own net from two yards past the helpless Jamie Young.
