Robins run goes on

Goals from Paul Caddis and Alan Connell gave Swindon a comfortable 2-0 victory over struggling AFC Wimbledon in npower League Two.

The Robins found themselves frustrated by a stubborn Dons defence until Caddis broke the deadlock with his third goal of the season on 58 minutes.

Caddis fired a fierce 22-yard free kick under the Dons wall, which goalkeeper Seb Brown could only parry off the post and into the net.

And it was Connell who sealed the points 14 minutes from time with his second goal in as many matches.

The former Grimsby frontman swept home from 12 yards after a clever run and cross from substitute Lander Gabilondo.

The victory, which extends Swindon's run of just one defeat in their last 18 games in all competitions, would have been more emphatic but for the hosts being denied by the woodwork on no fewer than four occasions.

Connell twice had efforts rebound off the crossbar while Matt Ritchie and Jonathan Smith both struck posts.

Midfielder James Mulley came closest for the Dons when his diving header was tipped wide by underworked home stopper Wes Foderingham.
