Danny Mayor scores only goal of game as Bury confirm safety with win at Swindon

Danny Mayor's powerful second-half header handed Bury their second win on the bounce and secured their Sky Bet League One status with a 1-0 victory at Swindon.

Leon Clarke should have put the Shakers ahead halfway through the first period after springing the offside trap, but he failed to capitalise on the protesting Robins defence, with Jake Kean tipping the ball over the bar from close range.

David Flitcroft's side broke the deadlock just after the hour mark, Craig Jones breaking down the right before crossing for Mayor to head the ball beyond Norwich loanee Kean at the back post.

Swindon almost drew level with just under quarter of an hour to play when Obika's delivery fell to Michael Doughty in the centre of the box, only for his volley to hit the foot of Chris Neal's right post.

Jonathan Obika - returning after a month out of the side - could have snatched a point for Luke Williams' men with two minutes of the game left, but his curling effort from 20 yards out hit the crossbar.
