The former Arsenal and Everton man has already worked under Wilson at Hartlepool, and the 56-year-old spent three seasons at Victoria Park.
Wood, who made over 750 appearances during his playing career, will link up with the Robins when pre-season begins at the end of the month.
Wilson told the club's official website: "George's pedigree is second to none and he has gained a huge amount of respect since making the move into coaching.
"He will command a lot of respect from the players and we are looking forward to working with him at Swindon.
"There are three keepers for him to work with and he is a fantastic coach to bring the goalkeepers on. Those that work with him will enjoy it."
