The striker joined Swindon until January on Tuesday with a view to a permanent move, after which chief executive Geoffrey King told Southend's official website: "Alex Revell has failed to live up to expectations. He was signed by the football club to deliver, which he has not done and that is why he is moving on". But Revell told the Southend Echo he was left with no choice but to depart Roots Hall. He said: "I was told that I had to leave Southend for financial reasons. "People can read into it whatever they like, but there can't be many players who have gone out on loan three days after being in the starting line-up." He continued: "I don't want to get involved in a public slanging match. He (King) is entitled to his opinions, but it's disappointing someone from the club has come out with comments like that, especially as I thought we were all in this together." King has played down concerns of a cash flow problem or that the club are close to administration.
