Swindon run ended by Burton

Swindon's winning streak came to an end as high-flying Burton took their chances in a 2-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium.

The visitors dominated the opening stages but could not turn persistent pressure into a goal.

Their best chance fell to Alan Connell after only nine minutes from a Paul Caddis cross, but the striker's glancing header dropped wide of the far post.

Robins midfielder Jonathan Smith had a shot saved by Ross Atkins before Burton took the lead in a breakaway attack in the 21st minute.

Justin Richards broke onto a clearance and his cross was chested over the line from close range by Billy Kee.

Burton made the most of a mix-up in the Swindon ranks to double their lead in the 47th minute.

Goalkeeper Mattia Lanzano was rushed into a clearance that landed at the feet of Jacques Maghoma, who skilfully sidefooted an 18-yard shot past the stranded Italian.

Paolo Di Canio rang the Swindon changes but all the visitors had to offer was a wayward shot from Ahmed Abdulla.
