Austin close to new Robins deal

Charlie Austin has revealed his contract talks with Swindon remain ongoing, with the striker keen to finalise a new deal at the County Ground. Austin has been a revelation since moving from non-league football last October, scoring 20 goals in 38 appearances in his debut season, while his 14 this term in just 20 outings have dismissed any fears he may have been just a one-season wonder. A host of Premier League and Championship clubs have been linked with the 21-year-old`s services, and are sure to be again in January, resulting in Town`s understandable desire to tie the rookie down to a longer deal. "I`ve got 18 months left on my current contract and we`re speaking at the moment, so hopefully we can sort something out," Austin told the latest npower Football League podcast. Asked how the transfer speculation goes down in the Country Ground dressing room, he replied: "As it must be with any club, all the boys just have banter and you have fun with it. "Obviously, you just want to concentrate on getting your head down and working hard at the current club you`re at."
