Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not been named in Sweden's starting XI for their Euro 2016 qualifying match against Russia on Thursday.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker has missed his club's last four matches, including the 3-2 Champions League win over Barcelona, with a heel problem.
Ibrahimovic's place will be taken by Rennes' Olla Toivonen, the Swedish football federation announced, adding that goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson will captain the side.
Sweden, who began Euro 2016 qualifying Group G with a 1-1 draw in Austria last month, also host Liechtenstein on Sunday.
