Guidetti set to face England stars

John Guidetti may be cheaper than a cheeseburger but the former Manchester City striker could push England towards an early European Championship exit this weekend.

After seven years and a clutch of loans, the 23-year-old was let go by Manuel Pellegrini's side after failing to make sufficient progress at the Etihad Stadium.

Guidetti, who ended last season at Celtic, is attracting a lot interest from across Europe and has been provided with the perfect shop window at this summer's Under-21 championships.

A key player for Sweden, the striker scored in Thursday's shock 2-1 win against Italy and is now targeting similar success against England in Olomouc.

Gareth Southgate's side need three points after opening with defeat to Portugal and Guidetti is unsure how Sunday's opponents will cope with that fact.

"There is much pressure on their team and we also know how their media work," he told reporters.

"They are big stars and should always go far, then they have gone and lost in the first match.

"I do not know if it's an advantage because they will be very motivated when they meet us."

Guidetti is better placed than most to judge English talent, having come across so many of the squad during his travels.

The striker played alongside captain Jack Butland when on loan at Stoke, while he has highlighted the threats of Nathan Redmond, Carl Jenkinson and, in particular, Harry Kane.

"Kane I have met at younger age," Guidetti said. "He is a very good footballer.

"Many say that he makes many easy goals, but that's what makes a magical player a magical player.

"Everyone wants a player who scores many goals. It is invaluable for a team."

Manchester United are amongst those said to be targeting Kane, with a fee of £40million mooted in the media.

Asked what he was worth by comparison, Guidetti joked: "I do not know. I am Bosman, so a cheeseburger costs more than me."
