Williams calls for fans' patience

Published: 15 Mar 2010 - 12:42:05

The Swans were stifled in a 0-0 stalemate at the Liberty Stadium by Alan Irvine's men, the eighth time the Welsh outfit have failed to score in front of their own fans. Sections of the support voiced their frustration as Darren Pratley, Lee Trundle and Williams all wasted chances to break the deadlock, with the central defender acknowledging the fans' frustration as the season nears its conclusion. But the 25-year-old urged the City faithful to give his team breathing space as they bid to secure a surprise play-off berth, telling the South Wales Echo: "I don't really think it affected the boys, we can hear the fans getting a little bit edgy but that's fine, that's to be expected. "I just want to tell the fans we are trying our best, but maybe as players we need to be a bit more patient. Teams come to defend and we need to be patient and wait for that something to carve them open. "We are trying to get the win and I know the fans want it as much as we do. We are all in it together. I just want the fans and players to enjoy being in the position we are in. It's exciting times for the fans and we are like fans at the minute."
