Swans talk tough on Bodde
19 Jun 2008 - 13:12:41
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has warned Derby County that his club will not be forced into selling Dutch midfielder Ferrie Bodde this summer.
The 26-year-old Dutchman has had a transfer request rejected by the Swans, with the Rams having made public their intent to try and land the midfield hardman, who is rated at £2million by the Swans.
Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post: "We can certainly keep a player.
"I think Manchester United have gone on record saying Ronaldo will stay come what may and I think that's the stance clubs should take.
"Our main aim is to make sure the squad is right for the start to the season, that is our priority.
"We will have to deal with the Ferrie Bodde situation that has been created. Comments from Derby and from Ferrie are out of our control.
"As far as we're concerned we want Ferrie to stay. He's our player, he's under contract and we're quite happy to sit and wait."
