    Swans swoop for O'Halloran

    05 Nov 2008 - 10:30:06

Swansea City have snapped up Aston Villa defender Stephen O'Halloran on a three-month loan to cover for the injured Marcos Painter.

Painter faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury, leaving Swans boss Roberto Martinez to bring in O'Halloran as cover at left-back.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge," O'Halloran told his new club's official website. "I know this Swansea side plays good football and I think it will suit my style of play.

"I'm really looking forward to pushing for a starting place. My aim is to get as many games as possible under my belt, improve my match fitness and help the Swans push up the Championship table.

"I'm out of contract at the end of the season, so I need to impress both managers, at Aston Villa and at Swansea."

O'Halloran has yet to feature for the Villa first team, but has gained senior experience during loan spells with Southampton and Wycombe Wanderers.
