Swans still plan Feeney deal
19 Dec 2007 - 11:40:54
Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez remains keen on bringing Warren Feeney back to the Liberty Stadium even though the striker has been ruled out for three months with ligament damage.
The 26-year-old Cardiff City forward had been on loan with the Swans when he sustained ruptured ankle ligaments during Saturday's 3-0 win against Southend United.
He had scored six goals in 13 appearances for the League One high-fliers who he joined at the start of the season.
Martinez said: "The situation does not change at all with Warren.
"I thought his injury, when I saw it, would be a bad one. We have found no bone fracture, which is good, but he could still be out for anything between seven to 13 weeks.
"The plan was to do a deal with Cardiff but the big issue is his situation at Cardiff.
"The attitude and way that he has conducted himself since the day he signed here means that he deserves another opportunity with us. That opportunity can't be destroyed by this injury."
