Swans seal Serran deal

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez has made the Spanish defender Alberto Polo Serran his sixth summer signing as he strengthens his squad in readiness for life in the Championship.

The 23-year-old moves to the Liberty Stadium from Espanyol B in a deal worth approximately £80,000.

"Albert is perfect for the British game,'' Martinez told the Swans' official website.

"He's a committed and aggressive defender, a winner. He's talented and ambitious - and that's the type of player we want at Swansea City.

"He could have taken an easier option by signing closer to home for a La Liga club - and even had the option of going to Poland - but he wants to play in the Premiership with Swansea.''
