Swans hopeful over Gomez

Swansea City have vowed to fight to keep hold of loan star Jordi Gomez at the end of the season.

The Spanish midfielder is scheduled to return to Espanyol in the summer, while reports claim Scottish champions Celtic are keen to sign him.

But despite the possibility of Gomez costing around £2million, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has promised to do all he can to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis.

"I don't know what Jordi might be worth or if Celtic or anyone else are interested in him," Jenkins told the Evening Post.

"He isn't our player so I wouldn't expect to know but we'd like to have Jordi back.

"If there's a chance of him leaving Espanyol, we'd pursue every angle to bring him to Swansea City."
