Rodgers reveals Britton regret
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed his disappointment that he never got to work with Leon Britton as he prepares to come up against the City favourite this weekend. The midfielder spent eight memorable years in south Wales as one of the club`s most consistent players before turning down a lucrative new long-term contract in the summer to complete a free transfer to Sheffield United. His departure came just weeks before Rodgers took the reins at the Liberty Stadium and the Swans boss, while praising his ranks for filling the void, would have liked Britton to be lining up for him and not against him at Bramall Lane on Saturday."I was a big admirer of what Leon did when he was here," Rodgers told the South Wales Evening Post."Looking in from the outside, he was a fantastic little player who was part of the identity of Swansea. When he was playing here, he was one of the best midfield players in the Championship."When I came in, I was disappointed he had gone because I felt he understood the way this team played. Tactically, he was a good influence on this team."
