Red card puzzles Britton

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton has hit out at referee Phil Crossley after he was sent off during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Northampton Town.

The 24-year-old walked after collecting two bookings - the second for a challenge on Jason Crowe which sparked a bout of pushing and shoving.

"It's disappointing for me because I've never been sent off before in my career," Britton told the South Wales Evening Post.

"And it's even more frustrating because it's not as if I've gone for two really bad tackles. They were two nothing yellow cards.

"The first one I came in a tiny bit late but I didn't really kick him, I just pushed him. I felt it was harsh but those decisions always go for the full-back.

"And the second I played the ball. I might have got the man as well, but I had possession, over-ran it a bit and went in for a 50-50 ball.

"All of a sudden the lad got up and pushed me but it wasn't as if I went in with two feet or anything."
