Poyet keen on Swansea job

Gus Poyet has thrown his hat into the ring for the managerial vacancy at Swansea City.

The former assistant manager at Swindon Town, Leeds United and Tottenham is interested in succeeding Roberto Martinez in the Liberty Stadium hot-seat.

The Uruguayan former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder revealed: "I'd really be interested in the job. I'd really like to go there, it would be a great opportunity."

The Swans are already believed to have drawn up a five-man shortlist for the role following Martinez's protracted departure to Wigan Athletic.

Veteran Sheffield United midfielder Gary Speed and former Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd are both reported to be in the running.
