Martinez hails debut victory

Roberto Martinez hailed the attitude and commitment of his side after Swansea City handed the rookie boss a debut victory in Tuesday's 2-1 win at struggling Rotherham United.

Martinez's reign as Swansea chief got off to the perfect start thanks to goals from Pawel Abbott and Lee Trundle at Millmoor to keep the club in the hunt for a play-off place.

"It was a fantastic performance with a lot of commitment, attitude and desire," he said.

"I'm delighted to get the three points and it didn't matter if it was 4-0, 5-0 or 2-1.

"The performance of the team was fantastic and it gives us a platform.

"It's not easy coming to the bottom of the league (team) because you're expected to win, but to do so is very pleasing."
