Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez thought his side were unfortunate not to take something from Friday's Championship clash at the Liberty Stadium against second-placed Birmingham City.
Despite taking an early lead the Swans slumped to a 3-2 defeat, but Martinez could not fault his players.
The Spaniard said: "I am very proud of my players but you get nights like this and everything seemed to go in Birmingham's favour.
"We started at a very high tempo and, after scoring so quickly, we could have added at least two more.
"I was delighted with the start we made but then we let in two very soft goals partly because we were without Leon Britton and Ferrie Bodde.
"They are the heart of our midfield and could be out injured for several weeks so it is a huge price to pay."
