Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez is confident that his squad has enough strength to deal with the departure of star striker Lee Trundle.

The 30-year-old is poised to seal a move to Bristol City, having scored 86 goals in 173 appearances during his four seasons with the Swans.

Martinez told the club's official website: "Lee knows how highly we think of him and that we never wanted to sell him, that is why he had to put in a transfer request.

"At nearly 31 he obviously thought about the stage of his career and wanted a new challenge in the Championship.

"We did everything we could to keep him but he had made up his mind.

"But I have got huge confidence in the players in my squad, I think they will relish the extra responsibility."
