Late blow hurts Martinez
06 Apr 2009 - 11:28:00
Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez was left deflated after seeing his side concede a last-minute equaliser in their 2-2 South Wales derby draw at Cardiff City.
The Swans were poised for a crucial victory when Joe Allen netted two minutes from time, only for Ross McCormack to win and convert a spot-kick in time added-on.
Martinez said: "My players are so disappointed and it's hard to take - it's heart-breaking and feels like a defeat.
"We always expected Cardiff to put us under pressure but we came through it extremely well.
"(Referee) Mike Dean said the penalty was given because Ashley (Williams) had his arms around the striker, but there were nine or ten instances like that in the game.
"The extra two points would have been huge for us. We've got five games left and we have to win all five.
"There's no margin for error now, but that's the challenge facing us."
