Happy return for Rodgers

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers thanked the Reading supporters for making his return to the Madejski Stadium a welcome one after seeing his team pick up a 1-0 victory. Rodgers was back at the Berkshire club for the first time following his dismissal as Royals manager last season but the Swans chief enjoyed his trip after seeing his new employers pick up all three points. Scott Sinclair's first-half strike settled the tie but Rodgers was quick to show his appreciation to the home faithful - despite admitting he had "mixed emotions" about coming back to his former stomping ground. "I want to put on record a big thank you to the Reading supporters who were chanting my name," said Rodgers. "A sacked manager coming back to his old club doesn't usually get that welcome and it meant a lot to me. "There were mixed emotions. Reading was the right club but it just didn't happen for me. It was the wrong time. Steve Coppell had gone and if we had started better it might have been different. At the time I left we were improving. "I had a cuddle with chairman Sir John Madejski who came in to see me before the game. We had a great relationship and he is a good man."
