Fitness the key for Scotland

Swansea City striker Jason Scotland is determined to get himself fitter than ever in a bid to help the Swans make their mark in the Championship this season.

The Trinidad & Tobago international netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 victory at Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, with Scotland vowing to do everything he can to be a success at the higher level.

He told the South Wales Evening Post: "The training programme is very tough and I've been in the gym trying to lose weight and to be quicker and stronger.

"It's important with the way we play that I need to be strong. I am up there on my own at times and I have to hold it up and wait for support.

"I am trying to get very fit. I want to be fit not only in the attacking aspect and I want to push myself that little bit more.

"I am feeling good now and I know I'm getting there, but with another 90 or 180 minutes under my belt I should be fully fit."
