Out-of-favour Swansea City striker Stephen Dobbie could be on his way back to Scotland after SPL side Aberdeen expressed their interest in the former Rangers man.

"I'm a fan of his and we have asked about his availability, and it is possible he could come here," Dons boss Mark McGhee said earlier this week.

The arrival of David Cotterill from Sheffield United last week in a permanent deal worth around £600,000 - a Swansea club record - suggests that Dobbie will see little first-team action at the Liberty Stadium, making a move away even more likely.

Cotterill, capped 15 times by Wales, had been on loan at Swansea since November, but only scored his first goal for the club this month, the consolation in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Leicester City.
