Counago turns Swans down

Swansea City have failed with a bid to lure Ipswich Town striker Pablo Counago to the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans are keen to sign a new forward after selling Jason Scotland to Wigan Athletic earlier this month.

Chairman Huw Jenkins told the club's official website: "We spoke with his agent, but Pablo's turned down our offer. It seems that the player's happy to stay at Ipswich.

"We're obviously disappointed, but Paulo (Sousa) has always said that he has a number of options and targets.

"Pablo's decision to turn down our offer means we'll now start to pursue those options.''
