Beattie looking for improvement

Swansea City striker Craig Beattie is hoping to impress new manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of the Championship season.

The former Celtic frontman found it difficult to make an impact under previous boss Paulo Sousa as he struggled with injury, but he feels now is the time to step up to the plate.

Speaking to the Evening Post, he said: "I was disappointing last year - it took me a while to get going.

"Paulo eventually put me in and I started doing really well, but then in November I had a grade two strain in my knee and a back spasm, which took me a while to get over.

"I got a few important goals away from home, but now I just want to get out there and show the fans at the Liberty why I was signed.

"I hope they will see the best of me. I don't want to say last season went badly, but I suppose what I'm trying to say it that it won't go any worse."
