The 27-year-old was the subject of a six-figure transfer offer from his former club in the final week of August. The Cobblers accepted the Swans' offer but the South Wales club pulled out of the deal as Akinfenwa was on his way to the Liberty Stadium to discuss personal terms. Akinfenwa, who made a goalscoring return to Northampton's first team at Bury on Saturday, told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo: "It didn't affect me because it came completely out of the blue really. "I'm a strong believer in the Almighty and I believe that what will be will be. "I'm meant to be here at Northampton right now and I'm here and ready to do a job."
